About

Who is Derk?

Derk de Geus is a singer-songwriter, artist and producer based in The Netherlands. He writes intimate acoustic songs that deal with the journey from the head to the heart. The songs are modern mantras that deal with personal growth and spiritual awakening, and are sung in group singing circles around the world.

He spent nearly two decades as founder of Paladin Studios, a game development studio making games like Cut The Rope Remastered, My Tamagotchi Forever, and Good Job!. He grew the award-winning studio to 55 people. In 2024, he found himself at a crossroads as the studio shut down its operations - and chose to leap into the unknown, and turn to his deep love for music.

Since then, Derk is donning the robes of "indie singer-songrwiter": writing songs, producing records and performing live. His work as an artist is grounded in a philosophy of going back to basics. He believes that the times we live in require us to reconnect to the heart, to the land, and to local community. His music is the soundtrack for that road back home.

In addition, Derk facilitates music gatherings, psychedelic ceremonies, and singing circles. Venues include the Ruigoord church, Dominicuskerk Amsterdam, and intimate spaces across Europe.
