Talks & podcasts

For speaking and podcasts the angle is the combination: twenty years building games, a music career, the book The Thread (written by an AI), a daily practice with AI, and years with the inner life. Not a single-field expert - the value is where those meet. A few starting points:

What an AI taught me about being human
Asking a machine to write a book on enlightenment, and what it reflects back about meaning and the soul.
Living with AI without losing yourself
Practical, grounded use of AI in work and daily life - how to use it hard and stay human.
Leaving the thing you built
Twenty years on a company, then walking away to make music. Reinvention and creative courage.
Practical spirituality, no dogma
Family, retreats, nonduality, psychedelics, and the long road back home.
Where it all meets
Games, music, AI, spirituality - why the best ideas live where fields overlap.

Frequently asked questions

What can I book you for?

Live public speaking and podcasts on creativity, AI and spirituality; and music - concerts, ceremonies and singing circles. Solo or with fellow musicians, scaled to your event.

Where are you based, and do you travel?

I'm based in The Hague in the Netherlands, and I'm happy to travel across Europe. Podcasts and online talks I do from anywhere.

How much does it cost to book you?

Every event is different, so I work with a custom quote. Tell me what you have in mind and I'll get back to you.

How do I book you or check availability?

There's no fixed schedule - just get in touch at hello@derkdegeus.com and we'll work out the details together.

Do you give talks, or join podcasts and panels?

Yes - it's one of the main things I do now. I speak and join podcasts on creativity, AI and being human, for festivals, gatherings, conferences and shows. See the talk topics above, then get in touch.

Do you perform solo or with other musicians?

Both. The line-up can scale to your event - I perform solo, or bring along friends and fellow musicians to fill out the sound.

What is a singing circle?

In a singing circle, we gather to sing songs from around the world. They range from sacred mantras to sing-along songs to rainbow songs and everything in between.

What happens at one of your ceremonies?

In a ceremony - for example with truffles, which are legal in the Netherlands - I provide the music and ambience with a combination of live instrumentation (guitar, shamanic drums, vocals and more) and a gentle DJ set that guides participants through their journey.

Do I need to be able to sing to take part?

Not at all. It’s for everyone, and you don’t have to "know how to sing." It’s about getting in touch with the deeper layers of your being. All that’s needed is an open mind and a willingness to allow whatever comes up.

Can you facilitate a private circle or ceremony?

Yes - I'd be glad to. Get in touch and we'll shape it around your group and intention.

Who are your events for?

Singing circles are for everyone. Truffle ceremonies are of course a different matter and there are contraindications to take into account - that responsibility sits with the organizer or facilitator.

Can I get the lyrics and chords to your songs?

Yes - you’ll find them at songtree.org, another website I created, which also includes the songs I didn’t write myself but use in events. You can also browse my own songs, with chords and printable sheets, under Music.

What languages do you sing in?

Usually English, with some Sanskrit and some Dutch - and sometimes other languages too. It depends on the setting.
